| FRAMINGHAM, MA - March 21, 2006 - John Doerr recently spent three days in Istanbul, Turkey acting as the conference chair of Management Centre Turkiye's 11th Annual Human Resource Conference. The theme of this year's conference was, providing a new perspective to corporations, people, and leadership. As the conference chair, John opened and closed each day by highlighting key take-a-ways from the speakers and pulling out the connecting themes among them. In attendance at the conference were over 1,200 Senior Human Resource Executives from Turkish and multi-national companies based in Turkey. John set the tone in his first day opening when he made a call for true leaders and explained that true leaders focus on the people they are leading not themselves. He challenged the audience to actively embrace and be a part of the changes which needed to happen in their organizations. Among the speakers at the conference were: - David Ulrich, Professor of Business at the University of Michigan and Principal Partner at the RBL Group: David's session focused around a simple premise: HR must add value.
- Ricardo Semler, CEO of Brazil-based Semco: Renown for his book, Maverick, Ricardo's session looked at new ways of running organizations based upon value, as opposed to the traditional hierarchical structure.
- Stefano E. D'Anna, Author, Consultant, and Self-Described Pragmatic Dreamer: Stefano encouraged the audience to see that "the slightest change in your being moves mountains in the world of events."
